The Busselton Art Society has a fantastic work space available to members, and used frequently for workshops.
Funds from The Art Society members was put to towards an addition to the Queen St historic building and home to the Art Society. The addition provided more workspace, and a place for members to teach, and learn and attend workshops. The room was dedicated to Faith in 1988.
Faith Hemsley was a foundation member
of the Society when it was formed in 1959, she remained a member until her
death on 22 February 2000.
A retrospective Exhibition of Faith’s
artwork was held in 2002, with art collected from all over the state to feature
in the exhibition. The Art Society have
some of Faith’s artwork in their Acquisition collection.
In the first open air art exhibition held by the Art Society, in Mitchell Park, Busselton, over the weekend of January 19 to 24 1960, Faith entered
seven oil paintings. This annual art exhibition was to later be
known as Art in the Park and is the
main exhibition on the Art Society calendar held in January each year.
Faith taught members of the Art
Society watercolour painting over a period of 30 years, there are current
members of the Society today who benefited from Faith’s tuition and are today,
painting and exhibiting their artwork. Faith was President of The Busselton Art Society
(Inc) for two years in approx 1979/80.
A great variety of workshops and classes to suite all ages, abilities and media, are held throughout the year.
